Tom Hanks Back In The Director’s chair

Hollywood’s favourite everyman, Tom Hanks, will takes a step back behind the camera.

He hasn’t directed a film since That Thing You Do! in 1996 but reports today indicate that he will write and direct Larry Crowne, and it seems that Hanks will star alongside Julia Roberts, reuniting the pair from Charlie Wilson’s War.

DeadlineHollywood reports that ‘Hanks will play the title character, a man forced to reinvent himself and find a new career as he navigates the second act of his life.’ Could be good, especially with Hanks showcasing his eye for directing once more.

Hanks didn’t turn away from the behind the scenes work completely though, he’s been a busy bee, producing Mamma Mia!, Where The Wild Things Are and TV’s Big Love.

Don’t leave it so long next time, Tom.
